Progressing Australia Award
With more than 20 years of experience across southeast Queensland, McCartney Family Funerals is a family owned and operated business that alleviates the stress and uncertainty of organising a funeral or memorial service, allowing its clients to focus on what’s most important – family.
Providing 24/7 guidance and consultation, the business prides itself on leading a number of community initiatives to improve outcomes for loved ones, such as grief support programs, crafting activities in aged care homes and organising a homeless appeal, which gathered hundreds of supplies for local homeless shelters in Brisbane.
In recent years, the McCartney Family Funerals team has also implemented custom built management software that allows them to thrive in a competitive industry through their strong community connections. The digital solutions enable their workforce to be there for families remotely, ensuring immediate action is taken when required and delivering families a single point of resolution for their specific needs which the business recognises is different for every loved one.
In 2021, McCartney Family Funerals was recognised as the 2022 Telstra Best of Business Awards, Progressing Australia, National Finalist.
The software is a great point of difference for us in an industry that still predominantly works with pens and paper. It helps us to enrich the experience of our families, for example, it reminds each funeral director of the anniversary of a person’s death. Knowing how tough those dates can be, we try to check in and meet the surviving relative for a coffee or give them a phone call. It is always something personal, never just an email,” said Mr McCartney.
McCartney Family Funerals now has 19 staff across four offices servicing many families across southeast Queensland. In any given year the company plans almost 1,000 funerals and maintains the philosophy that it will be driven by real human connection and community support.
